On September 25-27, 2019, the China Food and Drug International Exchange Center held the 10th China International Conference on Medical Device Supervision and Management (CIMDR) in Suzhou. This conference is aimed to strengthen the exchange of international medical device regulatory regulations and technical specifications, improve the scientific and technical level of the review process, improve device manufacturers’ awareness of compliance, promote exchanges between enterprises and governments, and promote the application of new technical standards and technological achievements. As the industry’s leading clinical CRO, CR Medicon attended and participated in the conference, sharing its own experience and industry insights, customer and industry colleagues to help China’s medical device innovation and rapid development of the industry.
The theme of the conference was “Deepening Reform and Innovation, Improving the Rule of Law System, Promoting Supervision Science, Strengthening International Exchanges.” Deep discussions were held in this conference about how to thoroughly implement the State Council’s “Opinions on Reforming the Approval System for Drug Medical Device Evaluation and Approval,” “Commenting on the Reform of the Examination and Approval System to Encourage the Innovation of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices.” This conference also covered how to strengthen and promote international exchanges and cooperation in the field of medical devices between China and foreign countries, and how to actively promote the development and progress of the industry.
Aside from the general meetings, this conference also set up 16 sessions covering medical device industry’s hot spots, including medical device innovation technology and products, clinical evaluation of medical devices, medical device regulatory affairs, medical device standards, UDI implementation, medical device biology evaluation, and medical device post-marketing verification and risk management, medical device network security, and artificial intelligence. Prof. Leon Sun, Chief Medical Officer of CR Medicon, was invited to speak at the conference about clinical evaluation of medical devices.
